Manual Wireline BOP
Manual wireline BOP is positioned on top of the wellhead.
It is designed to provide a positive seal and contain well pressure around stationary wireline or braided cable during well intervention operations.
Manually operated stems are used to actuate rams into the bore of the valve and seal around the wireline or braided line.

Hydraulic Wireline BOP
Wireline BOPs (wireline valves) are positioned on top of the wellhead, at the base of the lubricator rig up. They are a safety device, to be used in the event of problems when running wireline into a well. Designed to provide a positive seal and contain well pressure around stationary wireline or braided cable during well intervention operations. They work on the principle of horizontally opposed rams coming together to centralize the wire and seal around it, whilst the rams form a seal across the bore of the BOP
